I had some extensive cyano building up in my 5.5g QT on the bare bottom, sides and the especially the back wall. It hadn't gotten to the "snot" stage yet, but was heading there. I tossed a dime sized Astrea snail in a week ago. The tank is now squeeky clean. I can't believe how quickly it dispatched the stuff. Anyone else had this experience?
