I've recently lost both a royal gramma and a clown goby in my 30gal fowlr tank. The tank has been running for 6 months, I top off and make water changes with RO water regularly, no skimmer yet, but I am running filtration rated for 80 gallons. The only thing I've changed recently is adding a new mech filter. The fish seem fine one day and are dying the next... I don't know if this is a s@#& happens scenario or if something is legitimately wrong.

I tested them last week and they were all perfect. I do not currently have a quarantine tank set up.

More current parameters and actual numbers would be helpful trying to figure out what is going on. Also were the fish eating well? Were they showing any signs of disease? How long did you have the fish?

Do you have a crab in there that may be starved? How is your filtration configured and how much in return flow do you have running? Do you have any skunk cleaner shrimp in the tank? Pics of the tank and setup would help.

You said the fish were fine, then all of a sudden dead? They may have shown symptoms that you didn't think were connected to their death. Things like heavy breathing, flashing, scratching or rubbing against the rock sand glass anything, twitching of the head, lack of eating, white stringy poo, faded color. All of these things and more point to a disease or parasite. Think back and see if you remember any of the dead fish doing any of these things and please let us know. Do you have any pictures of the fish from right before they died?

Environmental factors will need to be eliminated as well, so as previously mentioned the actual numbers for recent water tests will be needed.
