I've been on reef2reef for some time now just looking and peoples build threads, tank threads, show off threads, and otherwise. I've been an active member too, adding in my 2 cents, giving advise, buying and selling. But I've never... ever... Put a picture of my tank on this site. I don't know why, I guess I just never got around to it. But here it is in all its glory... ;)

My new"ish" 300 gallon peninsula"ish" acrylic tank

Tank is 8'x2'x30"

I bought this tank as a full set up from a guy off Craigslist, the tank was in great shape and all set up for what it had in it, 5 fish.

Me being me I thought 5 fish just wasn't enough, especially since I had my fully stocked (maybe a little overstocked) 75 gallon tank with fish I needed to add.

So here's a list of the inhabitants that lived in the tank when I bought it.
- Clown Trigger
- Banana Wrasse
- Vlamingii Tang
- Unicorn Tang
- Niger Trigger

After the ordeal of moving this behemoth an hour down Long Island and setting it back up at my place, I added my fish from my 75 (tang police don't even bother, I know what I've done wrong in the past).
- Naso Tang
- Convict Tang
- Sailfin Tang
- Scopas Tang
- Foxface Rabbitfish
- Snowflake Eel
- Niger Trigger
- Flame Angel
- Bangaii Cardinalfish

So all in all, here's the list of fish after I've given some away for reasons I don't feel like mentioning, some deaths, and some new additions from the LFS.
Fish:
1 One-Spot Foxface
1 Convict Tang
1 Snowflake Eel
1 Naso Tang
1 Sailfin Tang
1 Scopas Tang
2 Niger Trigger
1 Clown Trigger
1 Vlamingii Tang
1 Unicorn Tang
8/9 Yellowtail Damsels
1 Blue Lined Grouper
1 Cleaner Wrasse
1 Haitian Pink Tip Anemone
1 Bamboo/Banded Cat Shark Egg (exact species unknown as of now)
1 Cinnamon Clown
2 Big Eye Soldierfish
Coral:
- 1.5 heads of giant green Duncan (.5 head is baby)
- Many Spider-Man Mushrooms
- Many Flourecent Green Striped Mushrooms
- 2.5 heads of neon green w/ pink skirt Blastomussa (.5 head is baby)
- Green Toadstool (8+ inches across)
- Many zoanthids, various types/ sizes
- 5 heads of green hammer
- 4 heads of green frogspawn

Luckily, my Skimz Monzter sm203 skimmer and my sump put in work at keeping my tank clean, along with NSW water changes bi-weekly (weekly if needed).

I may have more to say about this endeavor into the large tank lifestyle but this is all I can say for now, how about some pics to go along...

Very nice looking tank! How are the triggers getting along?
triggers get along fine, my clown has so far been a star citizen, not fighting with anybody, even though he's about 5-6" by now. I read that by this size they start to get aggressive but he's doing good so far, I've had all the triggers together for a long time now so they're used to each other.

Because the tank mates you have are a severe risk to shark health.
I've taken all of this into consideration and the only ones I se of any threat to the shark would be the triggers, all of which haven't done anything bad that I've heard of them doing. They're all pretty peaceful towards eachother and any tank mates I add

That is a pretty significant risk, even if your triggers are peaceful.

So as some may know, but I kinda doubt it, I had a HUGE nitrate spike out of nowhere. My nitrates shot up to about 100 ppm over about like 3 days. I don't know if this is possible but I think it may have been due to the cinnamon clown going crazy on the sand making mountains and disturbing the nitrogen trapped in the sand bed. That's just what I think, don't know if it's possible but watever. I bought some filter media (forget what type exactly) but it was meant for taking down nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia to perfect levels and I've read good reviews about it. Ive been running this media for about 3 days now and I don't know if this is miracle media or there was another reason for the 100ppm nitrate reading but my nitrates are down to 5ppm, which is tolerable. I will still be doing a water change this weekend just to be sure but boy am I haply

And I don't know why but during these few days of nitrate spike and reduction my corals have thrived and looked better than ever and my fish looked great still too
