At what gallonage do you start needing a dehumidifier?

So I was reading about humidity induced mold. Tanks give off quite a lot of humidity as water evaporates. Sometimes this can be fixed by just blowing air around the rooms the tank is in/adjacent to, but sometimes you have to start getting rid of all of the humidity with a dehumidifier.

is there a certain gallonage point where you start needing to run a dehumidifier for your safety? The reason I say gallonage, is because some of us have MTS, and having 3 55 gallon tanks can be equal or great to (larger surface area) a 165 gallon tank in terms of releasing water into the nearby environment. Or, is there a certain surface area of exposed tank surface where one needs to start running the humidifier?

Good question. Obviously there are alot of factors here (weather, size of the room, how many people are in the room, ventilation, ect), tank size is just one. Personally I watch my windows. Moisture will always show up on the coldest surface (usually it's gonna be the glass in your window). If I see droplets forming on the window it is time to hook up the dehumidifier.

Square footage location there's a lot goes into it. If you are concerned use one set for 55%. I use on in my basement because it's a basement and has two tanks in it.
I can tell when its unplugged 90g and 55g

If I had 3 55 gallon tanks I would run glass lids. Detractors will claim reductions in par and gas exchange, but I tend to find these claims to be overblown.

I use a hygrometer at $5 and my comfort level to determine when to remove moisture from the air. Here in Texas we use air conditioning to remove moisture for 10 months during the summer.

Note: In residential cooling, humidity amounts to 70% of heat load and is often referred to as “latent heat”.

I have 3 tanks, 75 w/sump, 65 w/sump and a 29 gal. I run a dehumidifier constantly set at 70% RH. I have to empty it every 2 to 3 days in warm weather, less often in winter.
