At what point do I need to split my coral?

I know this sounds weird... but my coral seems to have developed a lot of heads underneath the others and I am curious if there is a point where I need to split the torch.. it’s one of my longest living corals and it seems to just keep multiplying!

Maybe I should just leave it alone... no clue I just see the little heads and think they’d do better with more direct light!

As the old lower heads die off, they are replaced with newer heads on top. The old heads literally become the reef.

yea i totally would cut a few heads off the bottom to save them. you can trade them in to ur LFS or trade them with local reefers. I c no reason to let life die

Yep, no reason to split it, unless you are looking to sell frags or it’s getting too big for its spot.

See the problem isn’t that they are dying underneath.. they are all new baby heads! So like I figured the more light the better but the whole thing might be just sharing energy

As said, you can frag the lower heads. Set them out in the tank and let them grow new colonies, or you can sell or trade them. Also, you can just let the thing get huge.
