At what point should I be concerned with this nem?

It’s been buttoned up for about two weeks. This morning found it on the sand and moved it back to the rock. It doesn’t open and keeps inflating/deflating. All water parameters are in ranges.

Please list your "in range" parameters.

How old is your tank?

Gordon Ramsay GIF
Salinity 35
Calcium 460
Mg 1380
Nitrates <10
Phosphates <0.25
KH 10.5

Tank is six months old. All my corals and fish are thriving.

So now it seems like it’s squeezing between two rocks.

So he seems to be trying to get away from light and or flow. Too much flow and light makes them retreat to a crack like that.

I just tuned the lights down this morning. He’s back anchored in the sand but anchored in near the shade of a rock. Seem like you may be right. Still closed up though.

Yeah I would just give him some time. Anchoring is a good sign! When he is comfortable he will open again

Tank is young and seems to be going through algae issues. My guess on contributing factors.

i dont think this is water quality but too much light
While they need light for production of their inner zooxanthellae, too much will cause them to shrivel or hide. Too much flow also can cause them to do this

It’s odd cause I have two AI prime 16 HDs and the Fluval marine. I didn’t think they produced enough Par in a 75 gallon. I figured the nem needed a lot of light and I didn’t have those all the way up and only the blue light spectrum on. No whites, reds or greens.

I figured just the blues cause the corals seem to thrive and the tank is in the basement. No one really sees it except me and the kids.

Yeah mine are under red sea 90s! Good lights

Well here he is. Have the whites on just for the photo. I generally leave algae alone on this lane of glass for the snails.
