ATB 840 with older style psk 2500 pump issues

Hi,

Well its a known issue with psk 2500 to have start up problem. That doesn't stop people using ATB 840 , one of the most balanced skimmers ..
Got a used ATB 840 at a pretty cheap price but the pump PSK 2500 needs a lot of work to get it started and once switched off I have to reopen the volute and fit the impeller back to make it work.

Now I know most people will advice to get off teh psk 2500 and get a psk 1000 but I wonder if the psk 1000 will fit the custom volute of older ATB 840 ? Anyone has changed from psk 2500 to psk 1000 for ATB 840 with the same volute?

Is there any impeller like the Aquamaxx Red Demon that is currently available which will help in fixing the psk 2500 pump?

Atb uses the psk1000 in its stock form with a custom stand, it doesn't use a custom volute like the the 2500. The custom volute that is on the 2500 was the solution for the start up problems so adding another needle wheel won't help unless you current one is damaged. Your best bet is to just throw the psk1000 on there and call it a day.
