Just stumbled upon this thread and am definitely going to be tagging along. I was about to get an ATI 8 bulb when I was shopping for a fixture but got Radions from the old lady as a gift..

I've always been pretty partial to T5's. I love T5 tanks and am really considering switching over.

I'm on the fence but the bulb replacements and the vortechs control are driving me to ecotech.

Updates?

bulb replacement cost is nothing in this hobby. If you are doing sps, you definitely want to see nice color.
I do not mind the changing bulbs once a year as long that my corals give me good/nice/great colors.

Ive seen plenty of LED tanks with nice color. Bulb replacement factors into the life cycle cost of a fixture. But yes, I understand what you're trying to get at.

You will have complete coverage with T5's, usually much better growth than LED (even halide), and colors and acclimation is pretty easy to achieve as long as you don't starve your reef. Go T5 for complete coverage and don't look back. As for the ati LED, most of the guys that I know running this light have to run their LED at very low intensity. Their tanks are mainly T5 lit and I question if the addition of LED makes any difference at all to the corals.

I am in the same boat. I was running two G3 Radions over my 120. I love the controlability, I am just not getting the spread/color I love.

I modded an old 8 bulb Tek light and added 2 Geismann Aquablue plus, 1 ATI actinic plus and 1 Fiji Pink. I am LOVING the color. I'm running the T5 for 4 hours during midday and put the Radions on a 2 week acclamation period and turned them down 10%.

I agree with Rich. I use leds only for shimmer and to give me dusk and dawn effect. I rely on T5 only to color my sps.

On my frag tank I have a sunpower with reefbrites and I am very happy with that too.

I just pulled my 2 Radion Pros off of my deep blue 80g and Swapped in an ATI Dimmable SunPower 8x54w 48" fixture that I picked up used on a STEAL! My original plan was to gut the center of the ati and mount the 2 Radions in the center section. I Love EcoTech and my Radions, but the shadowing, even w wide angle lenses was killing me. I then heard that T5s can cause interference w the Radions and was afraid to chop up a perfectly beautiful ATI fixture n have the hybrid project fail. So I just put the ATI up itself last week. I can't believe the parts of the tank I wasn't seeing before! I do miss a lot about my Radions and I'm still on the fence with all of this. Please let my know what happens as time goes on! Great tank!!

You just have to disable the radion buttons on the top to stop the interference. I have two radions and t5 sups with zero interference after I turned off the buttons.

So they will still program correctly and run fine, all I have to do is disable the buttons through ESL? What kind of issues happen if they aren't disabled?

That's correct! I want to say when my t5s kicked on the radions would change color to white/yellow light. Once I disconnected the buttons from esl nothing happened.

I have a 36" 8 bulb dimmable ATI fixture. I've had it 2 months. It has been a big problem. Several sets of bulbs out, overheating my tank, the company wanting me to swap bulbs, watch videos.... still no resoluton. ATI sucks
