Would 4 Coral Plus bulbs with 2 actinic bulbs be too too much light? I am running 4 Blue Plus, 1 Coral Plus and 1 Purple Plus. I run those 4 bulbs for 4 hours a day. The 2 Blue Plus I use for 8 hours total. Too much PAR?

What kind of corals will you be holding?

Front to Back…………

Tropic

Super Actinic

Super Purple

Actinic Blue

Aqua Blue

Super Actinic

You be better off to get a 8 bulb fixture, SPS will love you for it.

Here's what I have in my 6 bulb ATI fixture over my 40g SPS frag tank- 3x ATI Blue Plus, 2x ATI Aquablue Special, 1x ATI Coral Plus
My corals seem to be happy with the mix. It might be a little "whiter" than some people run these days, but personally I don't care for the 20K blue look.

I like white, day light, shallow natural looking tanks. I figure that with the Coral Plus during the main photoperiod I can get that look. And with the actinics for sunrise/sunset I would get that nice blue.

I would mix one or two Purple Plus lamps instead of all Coral Plus, and then two Blue Plus, not Actinics. Having twice as many white/purple lamps as blue will still lead to a strong white with a touch of blue :)

On one of my SPS tanks 48x24x24 I run ATI 6 bulb with 2 Kessil A160WE. Kessil's ramp up to 80% intensity and 10% color by 1pm and back down. So manly on the blue side. 8am-8pm
The ATI runs the following from front to back. The Purple+ and Actinic run from 8:30am-6:30pm The rest of the bulbs run from 11am-6pm
Blue +
Purple +
Coral +
Actinic
Blue+
