Ati fixture got wet

Whoops this says energized electrical use. I should probably go back and get a different one

Any luck?

For my light I used a 2x4 painted white to match the ceiling. It's screwed down to 3 studs in the ceiling and then my fixture is hung from the 2x4.

Thanks, that's my plan exactly. No power to the controller yet. I think I'll start with replacing that so I can trouble shoot the ballasts.

Call ATI tech support, they are great. There is a way to easily bypass the timing controller chip so when you plug it in, the lamps should just fire up. When the controller chip gets wet and there's any power running, it's gonna fry. Everything else on that fixture can handle some water.

This happened to me years ago and I still have it running over my discus tank on a WeMo plug, so it's on a timer that I set with my iPhone and can control remotely.

Thanks for calling Casey, with any luck its just your low voltage power supply or a wire nut (as shown in the previous photo). I am certain something go fried, but with any luck its a cheap item not a controller or ballasts!

Good luck with your diagnosis.

Tips we discussed, and to share with everyone else:

If you get a pair of lamps to light up, mark them with tape and use them to diagnose other ballasts. This will ensure you have 2 good known working bulbs and rule that out as a failure point.
Unplugging the low voltage wires to the ballasts (be sure and protect them while unplugged with electrical tape or wire nuts to prevent them from touching anything)
With the low voltage wires unplugged, the ballast will run at 100% by default (the wire nut in the photo may be toast which would prevent the ballast from getting 110v.)

1 of 2 bad bulbs will prevent both from turning on.
Each ballast drives 2 bulbs
On your 8 bulb fixture, bulbs 3 and 6 are on the same ballast
Other paired bulbs: 1&2, 4&5, 7&8

4 out of 8 so far fired up after wiring around the controller and relays. One of the ballasts arched a bit but still works ! Thanks Keith at ati for all of the help!
