What's up everyone? I'm currently building a 120g setup. My stand and canopy I built are out for paint and I'll be plumbing the system once I get it back.

Anyway, I have a 6 bulb 48" ATI fixture with a blue reefbrite xho strip on the front and back of the fixture. My question is about the ATI ventilation. My canopy has an open back and an open top, but the ends of the ATI fixture will be about an inch away from the sides of the canopy. Will that be an issue when it comes to ventilation and heat?

Yea, both the top and back are open. I'll probably staple some screen to both the openings tho. Also, on hot days I can open the front and both sides so the whole thing will be open.

Pirate- I custom build the canopy to give me an extra inch on each side so she fits.

Here's a picture of the fixture hanging from the skeleton of the canopy before the doors are mounted.

I have 2x 250 watt halides in my canopy with an open back, and I leave the front open most nights as well (run the lights overnight). I haven't had any problems with heat/ventilation.
