I recently measured the PAR on my 8x54 ATI Hybrid using the new Apogee 210 PAR meter. I applied corrections for the blue LEDs.
Note that I removed the LED reflectors on my fixture. This improved the spread of PAR.
I also didn't measure the back of the tank as it should be identical to the front (notice below I only measure the center and front).
All measurements were at the very bottom of the tank. What's crazy is how spread out the LED PAR levels are. I was surprised the front edge of the aquarium had higher PAR than the middle right under the LEDs. Could be user error and how I angled the meter when measuring.
When facing the front pane measured the center of the aquarium from left to right and the front of the aquarium, right up against the glass from left to right, for example:
Center-Center = Dead enter of the tank
Front- Left: Left front corner of the aquarium.
Glass dimensions are 48x30x24
Highest PAR reading I got at the bottom of the aquarium was 263. That's with two actinic bulbs, the fixture 12" above the water and without the LEDs on full blast. Very easy to roast corals with this light so you have to be careful about intensity and especially duration.
