I received my ATI ICP test results back and am shocked to find that my Alkalinity and Phosphate/Phosphorus were so wildly different.

Alkalinity:
ATI ICP - 7.18 dkh
Hanna Checker - 8.2 dkh
Phosphorus:
ATI ICP - 40.32 ug/l phosphorus and .12 mg/l phosphate (ug/l to ppm is 0.0403)
Hanna Checker - 16ppb phosphate which is 0.049 ppm phosphate
It is likely that I should trust the ICP analysis more so than the Hanna, but I am shocked they are that far different.

Going to order some calibration kits for mine to determine if they are off.

Anyone else see this with their comparisons?

I noticed a similar diversion in Phosphate compared to the Hanna ULR.

Hanna ULR = 0.49 ppm
ATI Test = 0.33 ppm

My Alkalinity was dead on.

I took note of the fact that is was low and said to myself, “Self, the Hanna has been very consistent to my expectations of the level with clear trends. If it is off, it is consistently off.”

When I do a second ATI in the future, I will see if it is off the same.

I just received my results today from ati and it’s on the money with my Hanna ulr phosphorus checker. I do use a syringe that reads the 10 ml of water instead of the line on the cuvette. It does goes over the line a bit but i trust the syringe over the cuvette.

Thanks. I ordered the calibration kit for my alk reader to see. Mine was significantly off, but I would agree it is consistent. If that is the case, I'll just adjust my final reading each time, but want to be sure before I shoot 1.0 dkh higher! Especially based on one test.

Corals are all doing extremely well too.. so I'd hate to impact them on a single test result.

I will say, I did look up the conversion from ug/l to ppm and the hanna checker is near on the money.. close enough to what I need anyway..

40.32 microgram per liter to ppm = 0.0403 ppm. Hanna read it as 0.049

So that one is good.

I'll update this thread once I get my Hanna Alk calibration kit.
