ATI ICP test - analyze my results

I mean I wash my pumps, power heads, etc in tap water and try to get them mostly dry before putting back in the tank. My filter socks I wash in the washer and let dry. So I truly don’t think it would be coming from the tap BUT everyones tap water is different to an extent. I know that’s not a definitive answer but if ATI says not to worry I would just do a test in a month or two and see what the next one is especially If you are already running a polyfilter.

Yeah seems a non-issue unless I see it going above 20 is what they said. Good to know - these ICP’s can be lifesavers. Somehow had a decent amount of aluminum in my very first test so been running a piece of polyfilter ever since and it is pretty much gone now. In times like these its hard to not want to keep it in the tank fulltime even though some recommend not to

Hi team! Wanted to get the reefers united to analyze my latest ATI ICP results.

I somehow have a tiny amount of copper - nothing new introduced and I run these monthly and have never seen copper before. Is this a level you would worry about? I do keep a small strip of polyfilter in the back chamber.

Also working on my nutrients - they are crazy. I can almost solely blame feeding frozen baby brine for this - just ends up getting caught in the filter foam. I’ve moved to TDO pellets recently and am phasing out the tiny frozen foods.

What actions would you take from here? Corals and fish all doing fine.

Quick question…are you using IO salt?

I don’t see any big issues.

Nitrate is high and I’d lower it.

You might experiment with dosing iodide.

Curious…

There are two ATI ICP results at the top of the chem forum and both claim 1.16 ug/L copper.

Coincidence? Systematic error?

Working on the nitrates - after stopping the frozen baby brine and can o’cyclops I did notice a big reduction in sediment in my filter sponges.

What I’m not sure about is how these TDO xsmall pellets are going to impact the nitrates - all of my fish are obsessed with them so I find myself having to feed more to get the mandarins fed. I’ll test again soon.

Very interesting on the other tests with exact same value - I don’t see how my tank got copper - I do these tests monthly for the last 6-7 months and haven’t seen copper at all. It is a very alarming element to think you have in the tank without putting it in on purpose, thats for sure.

Even if accurate, the copper is not high enough to likely be a problem, IMO.
Good to know! I’ve had a polyfilter sitting in the chamber with my carbon for the last 6 months or so. Been leaning towards losing it but might wait a bit longer to be safe just in case something is leaking copper into it.
