I have had my tank setup for about 3 years with FOWLR. When I setup the tank I purchased a ATI powermodule 8 x 54. Now I want to start the reef thing. So I am thinking about going LED. Saving some money on energy costs would help. Would I save enough money for it to make sense? Also since I would need all new bulbs I can apply that money towards the light( and not have to buy new lights in the future.)
I am looking at 3 different fixtures. The Radion G2 or Pro and the AI Vega. Budget being 2k or less. I would plan on selling the ATI. What would be a good asking price for the ATI on the used market?
For the people who have switched from the ATI to LED – are you happy you did it, do the corals look as good or better? Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks.

IMO, corals look better under t5. It really is preference though. LED's can be done very well, but, you already own the best T5 light available.

What corals are you planning on keeping? I switched over to LEDs, hated it, switched back to t-5s and then a year later tried LEDs again (was really wanting to like them)... And this time I LOVED them. As soon as I have something better than my phone to type on, I will give you my full experience in detail of what I liked versus didn't like.

mixed reef. I have two islands setup in the tank. One will be LPS and the other SPS.

I switched from ATI 6 x 24 watt Sunpower fixture to a gen 1 Radion and I love it. Corals never looked better.
You will need 2 Radions

I advise getting reef breeders LEDs and save yourself a thousand dollars! They are amazing, controllable, full spectrum, and par values that rival any of the other brands mentioned here.
