Hey guys,

I have a potential trade happening,

I’m looking to sell/trade 2 hydra 52 HD and 2 hydra 26Hd.

I have an offer for a 60 inch 8 bulb ATI Powermodule.

I’m wondering if I can get some info on this light? Is it a good trade for the pair of hydra 52 lights?

It will be going over a 72x30x27 reef tank which I plan on being mainly SPS.

Ah right I'm with you!! If it's the Hybrid Powermodule with it's own controller or the new WiFi controller model I'd trade, otherwise the HD's would in all likelihood be younger and fresher and of more value than the Powermodule pre-hybrid era models which need the GHL Profilux to control.

IMO, the 8 bulb will cover better and have better results than those Hydras - you would probably need more than twice that amount of Hydras to do the same thing. That tank is no joke to light. The cost/price is up to you.

The guy gave me some info on the light, it’s a first Gen Powermodule, not dimmable.

But, I’m still up in the air.

I ordered orphek or 90 bars today, and I can add t5 as well to the hydras.

So I decided I’m going to do the trade, but I’m only trading the pair of hydra 26Hd and he’s giving me $200 on top.

I’m going to take out the 4 75 watt LED and the inner 2 rows of T5 and retro fit my hydra 52hd into the centre of it.

I think between 6 80 watt T5, 3 hydra 52HD and the 2 OR 90 led bars I’ll have enough light

I wouldn't modify that fixture at all!
That is the best number of combo choices you can get out of the T5 space over your tank. You won't add anything by changing those slots, only to loose coverage.
T5s all they way. The fixture is awesome as it is IMO!
Get the $200.00 and buy some bulbs to try it out.
4 ATI Blue Plus
2 ATI Coral Plus
2 ATI Actinic Plus
There will be other choices to implement into the combo like the GE 6500K, 10000K, 14000K bulbs...
I would stay away from purple bulbs. Just my opinion.
Your corals will love you forever!!!!
Or until you get some halides over them.

Nice pick up! I'm strongly considering buying a used one locally as well. But, my tank is 60x24x24 so I'm a little worried it's overkill. And I think it's being offered at a good price.
