ATI Straton LED Light - Comments, Review, PAR, Coverage, Discuss...

@ATI North America can you define what features make these units “pro” and nearly double the price of the regular Straton? The product listings are very vague and incomplete for what is priced to be the most premium fixture on the market.
they may be even less good as they not have the diffuser, but they have a bit more power and less consumption

Sadly we are struggling to get a clear idea as well. We have not yet received a sample so its difficult for me to give you anything of substance.

I can tell you the fixture is made from a single billet of aluminum which is machined into the fixture. I am very excited to see this as it will make for a pretty impressive form factor. As far as I know, nothing on the market is at this level of craftsmanship. Most as you probably know are extruded aluminum heat sinks with plastic covers. (think Hydra, Radion etc) Being a single solid piece of aluminum is certainly PRO, what else it has in that aluminum trunk I cannot speak on with any level of benefit at this time.

You sure don't want Kessil A500X's WITH Stratons.

The A500X is about 8 times more powerful than the 360. It's just too much unless you want to turn them way down.
Been running four Stratons and three A500X’s on my 365G tank and the color combo is amazing with good growth. Run the A500xs at ~40%

Sam Parker from parkers’s reef YouTube channel just bought a500x to add it to his 3 coral care. He might be doing video soon. Since coral care and stratons are same kind of light it will give us an idea
Does anyone know if he ever did a video with the a500X’s and Stratons?

Hello @Quiverfull

These will be going over my new build, I’ll be putting one up temporarily here soon to replace 1 Straton that is going to Dana for testing.

Based on the build and the initial plugging them all in and setup (not on the tank) so far I’m impressed. I still believe the Stratons are the best light on the market, I just like to try new things. I don’t plan on selling my Stratons, they will go in the closet until I can see how the GNC’s grow and color coral.

I’ll keep everyone posted, your best bet is checking in on my build thread as I show the plans there and have pictures of the new lighting setup I plan on going with there to try.
So did you end-up running the GNCs or Stratons over your tank?

I purchased the setup from the OP of this thread. The 4 ATI Stratons have been the best lights I've ever used and I've used a lot of lights. I released a YT video yesterday. Checkout the progress in just 3 months. Super happy with the Stratons.

I just watched your video and I don’t recall what settings you are running your straton lights at. Can you share?

Sorry to hear the thing happened to your tank hope everything will be all right and bounce back strong. Yeah I have three as well over a 5 feet tank. This light is so hard to hate the look the build quality is top notch but to be honest the color I'm getting out of it is not that top notch compared to my previous light fixture g5/t5 hybrid. I know there are milloms of things can affect growth and color. I do ICP regularly and my parameter is stable and I use par meter to match the par. I'm thinking to switch to t5 or MH. Before that just want to check hows everyone else doing.
Curious to now - did you switch to T5’s or stay with your stratons? I’m not overly thrilled with my SPS growth under the Stratons - just don’t seem to put out enough par.

I am using the high mixed reef mode in a 180 and get very good Acro growth at 30 inches below the lights. IMO there are way too many other factors influence coral growth to be able to credit, or blame, the lights alone. With these lights I dont think that PAR is a problem.

Really appreciate you taking the time to respond and share your views. I haven’t downloaded the latest straton firmware. Is the “high mixed reef mode” a feature on the latest firmware release? I can’t seem to find that in my ATI software setup.

So I upgraded the firmware in my Stratons today and still can’t find a “high mixed reef mode”. Could you be possibly be referring to the SPS/LPS mode?

I still show it but I haven't updated anything for a year or so, so maybe it is because of that. I assume that you are correct that sps/lps is a newer version but you can call and talk to them directly if you want

I'v bought 2 used ATI Straton from Germany. Both have a constant buzzing noise coming from a specific place, but different for the two units. Pretty annoying. Did anyone experience similar issue?
I've contacted support days ago but no answer yet.

Haven't heard of it before. Support is usually pretty helpful so will be interesting to hear what they have to say. Used stuff is always a gamble.

Hoping to get some help here. I've got a brand new ATI Straton, and I can't get past the first few steps of set up. I plugged it in, connected to the ATI Straton - ##### network (which says there's "no internet acces"). I go to a browser and put in the IP address 192.168.100.1 as instructed and.... "network error" "connection refused" etc. The login screen never loads. Any ideas? I've already reset the black box the Straton comes with.
