ATI Straton Pro (102, 153, 204)

I have a Cade 600 S2 frag on it's way, the display measures 24x24x12inch, would a straton pro 102 be ideal for this setup? The tank will be in my living room and I am worried about light leak.

A Straton Pro 102 would be great for that tank. Honestly you could even go to a 153 since its square like your tank. I don't think light leak will be problematic but the light will sit close to the tank. I think you'd be happy with either of them but its really about what your intentions are of the tank. If its full blown SPS the bigger one would be best, if its just a softy tank the 102 is probably a lot more than you need.

Thanks Joel! It's going to be an LPS tank so I went ahead and ordered the 102. Are the toggle bolts included in the hanging kit?

As a user I can tell you they have presets for sps & lps; a couple extra presets on the pro that aren’t on the orig. I use one of their pre canned sps options in 2 tanks and lps in another. the stratons were the first led that convinced me I didn’t need to supplement with t5. The pros improve on that.

To be honest Barrett I cannot answer this. I am happy to write my counterparts in Germany however I have never asked this of them so I don't know what rational or theory they were using when determining it. They are however very educated in reefing so I do trust their judgement. Ive been selling lighting in reefing for 20 years and I would use their programs if I found them pleasing to the eye. I am a fan of natural looking lighting, like I see when I dive fairly shallow reefs. (not deep blue at 90'). As such, my preference is very different from most of USA but it seems ATI is the same way. I still run a Powermodule over my personal tank so I haven't spent much time with the Straton over my own tank (only a day). -Joel

Thanks man, I'm honestly loving the light although the software is a bit dated in terms of efficiency sakes. Very high quality light and the corals are dialed in after using a par meter. While you're inquiring about the pre-canned settings, how about making the PAR estimates be based upon how far the user states the light is above the waterline? I have no idea where it's getting that reference when it tells me what the PAR is over Xxcm of water. Is there a way to change that? Thanks!

I’m planning my lighting and really want to get these. Question: The specs say a Pro 204 covers an area of 36x28 for SPS. The math says this should cover my 6 foot tank. Doing a search tonight I see a lot of people with more than two fixtures over this size aquarium, but I can’t tell if they’re 204 or a smaller size like three 102’s. What fixture and how many would you recommend? My aquarium is 70.9x24.

I have a 72 x 24 and have 3 102's which cover it perfectly with no spill over yet am able to grow sps in the bottom corners. No need for 204's IMO.

Hi all, I'm in the process of buying an Aquaforest OceanGuard 435, measuring 35.4"L x 23.6"W x 22.6"H and I currently have an SPS dominant reef (very few LPS on the sand).

I come from Radions G5 Blue and I wanted to dip my toes in the ATI Straton world.

For this tank, do you recon the 204 is enough for full SPS coverage, or do you think I would need 2 153?

@Oldreefer44 Hello sir..! I noticed you're very helpful with advice and have these lights too. I was hoping to ask you some questions based on your experience and knowledge.

For a mixed reef tank with the following dimensions (LxWxH) 48.2" x 25.3" x 21.7", another user recommended two Straton Pro 102s, which on paper seems logical (if you trust the manufacturer spread claims). I don't for certain companies like Kessil who I find to overestimate these numbers.

I reached out to ATI rep and they said if it was their personal tank, they would go with the straton pro 153s. My concern with those would be, light spill, potentially? It costs a lot more too but my intention is to buy once and be done, rather than upgrade all the time.

If you could go back, would you do the straton pro 153s on your tank? Or are the 102s more than sufficient that you would recommend it for a tank of my dimensions.

I agree with the 102's. IMO they are perfect for covering 24 x 24 inch sections and I have a ton of SPS colonies growing well , 30 plus inches below them, with no noticeable spill.

If you mean what color for the fixtures I have the anthracite. As far as the spectrum is concerned you can adjust them to be just about any percentage you want. There are several presets and it even tells you what PAR would be at different heights although I have to admit I'm a little skeptical as to the accuracy for that.

is there a way to run the pros where you turn them completely off at night without the time getting stuck at the time they were turned off? Or where the time wouldn’t be considered? I’d like to start turning off the lights completely and avoiding the 40w per light during non photoperiod (aka $60/yr for 5 stratons)

I meant the color set of the leds, of which there are several. Coral Pop, freshwater, etc.
