Let's have a discussion guys, which t5 bulbs are better and why ?

You would need to measure spectrum and par. Then add in the part of why personally x hobbyist prefers one over the other. I don't think many can show comparison numbers as well as spectrum graphs.

Well I don't know the par numbers ,I was in the market for new bulbs and was wondering which do you guys prefer...

Ati blue plus is my favorite single tube. My least favorite is ATI Aqua blue special. It is however the addition that generally gives me the most new growth tips. But not very pretty IMO

Just ordered a new ATI fixture with bulbs.
And, once again, no consistency on answers.
But here's what I found out talking to guys that use both. It seems the Giesemann may last longer, but the ATI's are cheaper. So, it comes out to what's your eye preference. I don't like the very blue water look, but a mixture is what's really needed. For my 8- bulb, I ordered, 2- Actinic Blue, 2- Coral Plus, 2- Aqua blue, 1 Purple plus, 1- True Actinic Blue
I'll find out once it's up, but order extras so you can see what works well for you. If you read up on light bulb descriptions, you can get a better idea of color shade. My thoughts were not to be too blue, pink, or white, hence going with only one Purple Plus out of 8.

If you check out Jason Fox's youtube presentation. He uses something like all actinic with 3hrs MH and reefbrite blues. So if we say from his results and what he uses. Basically it's a 70% photoperiod using blue leds and T5 actinic. To me this translates to use blue/actinic T5's as much as your eyes can handle.

What about a 4 bulb fixture, what do you think would be best ?

Just one Purple plus will bring out the reds and oranges in the tank corals, then add a Actinic and 2 coral plus

There is no wrong combo with ATI T5 unless you did something ridiculous like 3 purple. Assuming your water params are good.
If your corals grow well but are not vividly colored add more blue
If your corals have great color but grow slow add more white.
