Well while searching for tank mates that are reef safe and compatible with what I have, me and the wifey were talking. With our new found love for the reef tank, we discussed our favorite place for vacation. So with Daytona Beach in mind I decided I would ask you guys and look around on the net to see if a Atlantic Coast / Daytona Beach tank was possible and or interesting. Now the idea has my attention, but with what I have read I don't know how many nice native corals are available. Seems government don't like to let those be harvested. Also I haven't found a lot of really " saltwater aquarium" looking fish native to Florida. Do you guys have any tips or ideas? Not 100% on Atlantic tank just something we are considering. Also if nothing else maybe just some kind of fish that just screams Florida.

Im 20 mins from Daytona Beach and honestly, I do not know if there are any cool tropical fish to collect. I really dont think there is any reefs close by either. Most of the fish that are around here are goo dones to catch and eat lol. Hell the closest reefs I know of are in the Keys but that could be because I havent realy done any research either. I would assume if there were any good spots to snorkel/scuba dive there would be tons of little businesses offering their services and I havent ever seen any.

Edit: Most fish you will catch here would most likely outgrow any fish tank one could own lol

If I chose to go with a lion fish what, would my tank mates be limited to?

I fairly certain with lion fish you want similarily aggressive fish and fish larger than it can fit in its mouth or theyll be eaten. Lionfish are invasive to FL so I am fairly certain there is no limit as to how many you can catch. I would double check that though. SO technically they are not native to FL however they are thriving here unfortunately.
