I live beside the Atlantic ocean which is very cold water and my reef tank Is warm water...can I put rock or shells from the Atlantic in my warm water tank..just wondering.

I would want to boil it first to make sure no unwanted wildlife popped up in the tank.

And also, just to clarify, the "rock" that is used and mentioned for use in our tanks isn't actually rock....it's old coral reef remains. What is critical with this "rock" is that it is porous and allows bacteria to find nice homes for themselves. The rock that you are most likely finding in New Brunswick is most likely a granite or solid true rock. It will not allow bacteria to find nice homes.
