I just planted this Atlantic coast seaweed in my reef tank

mistake?

Where did you harvest it? Main issue is if it brought pests in and is even compatible with a reef temperature. Many large algae species from the Northern Atlantic may not do well in such warm water

i harvested it on the atlantic coast , my theory is that it lives in tidal pools which get very warm in the summer of course at high tide they get a flush ... hoping they do well will be keeping a close eye

Ah okay. Yeah I would definitely keep an eye on it. 78 is exceptionally warm for many species in New England
