Yes sir. The eyelet (the first part) and the screw are the only 2 parts threaded. Once you screw off that, the screw falls out. So yes you could change to whatever. I hate when I go so far down the rabit hole I miss simple solutions.

So we just need to remove the top acrylic panel and install a longer screw?

No the screw passes through the body and those two parts provide compression on clear light panel and black back panel like a sandwich.

There is a counter sinked hole for the screw head on the clear side.

I feel stupid. So just switch those use out and be done with it.

Yup. Now imagine me with the dang on light popping the stupid things in and out and it didn't occur to me because it became a matter of principle to make the existing hardware work.

Yes I replaced mine with the 8-32’s

Made custom H brackets to go with my 8020 T slot frame to hang the lights.
