Atlantik v4 - How many.. ?

Hi,

Doing some research on LEDs for our coming project at work. We are looking into different options for our coral propagation tanks. Since we're rebuilding our small public aquaria, all display tanks will be closed and all corals moved into smaller tanks until the new Aquarium is ready in 2021.

Since I haven't had the opportunity to work with Atlantik v4 yet, I would like to here your opinions on how many you would need for a SPS tank with these meassurments:
2500 cm long, 80 cm wide and 35 cm deep.

This is just a request about Atlantik v4. Thanks in advance!!

They are just 250cm.

Have them on a 6ft tank. Feel that 1 every 100 cm would work so answer would be about 30. Suggest talking to:

For those in the US who want to help, he is talking about a tank about 82 feet long, 32 inches wide and about 14 inches deep.

Assuming that you can hang them high enough to handle the 80cm width, then I would get a unit for every 90-100 cm of length... so 25-30 units.

We are going to see some photos of a 82 foot long system, even if it is just temporary.

You could also do the 25 suggested number. And if the projects won’t go that wide add some t5s

Seeing that the system is so shallow (35 cm) I would think you could push it to 120-150cm or 4-5’ spacing by raising the light above the recommended 16”. Mine has tons of power to spare and the good thing with the V4 is you can run everything at 100% so you get the full output of the led’s on the tank

But there will be six of them. Plus some other tanks. If we put them next to each other they'll be around 3500 cm!

I would think you can get by with at least 1ft between the fixtures and mount them so the 24" covers the width of the tank. That is parallel to the side. However I think realistically you will just have to set it up and take measurements and see how the coral responds. I would start with a smaller number of units and just plan on adding a couple as time goes on. You might find you can get by with 2ft between units and still hit your goals and if not add a couple more. Or what I would do is get a mounting system where they are moveable and just slide them an inch or two every week back and forth.

I would think 2 per tank at about 24” would give good coverage and plenty of par. If your sps are used to really high par or there are shading issues you may want to do 3 units or add a couple of the OR led bars

We will reuse some of our current lights, so we won't buy new fixtures to all the propagation tanks at once. Just to a couple to get us started.
The problem with reef tanks is that you need to start up a new tank before you can take the old one apart. At least if they are big tanks

Don't you have a good amount of these corals under 1000w MH, or am I thinking of another Euro Aquarium? If so, I would keep the MH over them for a while after the move.

Yes, many of our tanks have MH, 400 and 1000W. We've replaced a couple of 400W with AI Hydra 52HD, but needed five to replace two 400W MH

I think we will use some of the 400W over the temporary tanks when we close the old tanks.
In my dreams all lights fixtures would be the same brand in the temporary Aquarium, with the same control/app, same schedule, change one the other follows.. But we don't have that much money, so we will probably end up reusing every old fixture we have
