does anyone know if there is an alternative to the atman 2500 skimmer pump?

I have a SWC 160 Cone skimmer and find the pump to be inconsistent as well as very sensitive. Not to mention start up issues.

Any guidance will be great appreciated

I wonder if a Sicce PSk 2500 would fit? I don't have either, so I can't give dimensions but its an idea. The Sicce has several different pinwheels or mesh mods that may work for your skimmer.

Good Luck!

I've had a skimmer with the Sicce PSK 2500 and it also had start up issues. Besides I think that pump will be too big.

Thanks for the response.

Anyone else that can chime in??

does this have the mesh wheel impeller? I heard that is the root of a lot of the problems

I would think the new Sicce 600 would be the replacement, as it is almost the same specs.

I havent had these issues with mine. But if there is anyone to ask, it would be Luke at reeffiltration.com

ReefMonkey did you try the Sicce 600? I have problems with my pump when the power shuts off, I have to tear the skimmer apart and put it back
together, just to get it running. Let me know if the Sicce works any better.

the pinwheel will help, if you could make it fit the tunze 9410 or the psk 600 would be good fits for that skimmer.

Bad news folks, Atman is no longer manufacturing pumps. SWC and Bubble Magus will be identifying new pumps (and "upgrade" kits to fit these pumps). Bubble Magus has already done this with their NAC 3.5. Two of their skimmers that use to uses Atmans are now using a pump form Bubble Magus.

I have an SWC 160 and have squirreled away three Atman's. But here's another tip....put two or three telfon washers (available at HD) on the shaft on the cover side....between the impeller and cover plate. This little fix has saved the current Atman I'm running without fail. I think the mesh was getting hung up on the cover plate and the couple washers was enough space to allow the impeller to spin freely.
