I have a 70 gallon tank and my sump has a 4 gallon RO chamber for ATO. It seems that the ATO is replacing quite a bit of water in a 12 hour period. I've recently started marking the side of the glass with the time to try and measure exactly how many gallons are being used. I assume this is all due to evaporation since i don't have any water from a leak on my floor. It would make sense during the daytime with lights running, but I am having the same loss at night without lights. Normal??

Sounds normal. I have a ninety gallon and evaporate between one to one and a half gallons per day. ATO reservoir is about 11 gallons.

I worried as well when I went from a small sump to one that is double the size that I was having too much evaporation but after more than a week with an ATO and going through more than a gallon a day my salinity stays the same. I am going to have to do a bigger ATO reservoir cause I have to refill this five gallon bucket every four days and it’s annoying.

+100 on normal. If you have screen/open top that's pretty good actually. Many of us use glass lids to slow down evaporation. My 65 & 120 when using screen lids go through about 6 gal per week ea, w/glass lids it's closer to 3-3.5gals per week.

For me it's worse in the winter with the low humidity in the house but on a positive im adding humidity to the living room which is nice. But yeah sounds completely normal
