I am still working on my new build (60g DT with a Fiji 20 sump) and am looking for an ATO container. I like the idea of one that's mostly blacked out. I'm looking at a Bashsea 5g container. Anyone have it? Other suggestions? I know that I can use any kind of container, but looking for something blacked out and slim to help with space in my stand. Anything else I should be considering?

I have a Trigger Systems 5g and 10g and like them...however, they are not blacked out and are similarly priced as the Banshee. If blackout is not imperative, email Trigger about any blemished ATO's they may have. It will save you a considerable sum and they have free shipping and no tax with full warranty. ;-)

u can get one of these Tupper ware containers from supermarket for $20 and if it must be black, spray paint it.

I emailed them, thanks! I definitely don't care if it's blemished.

I use a Gamma 50# Vittles Vault for ATO storage. Has a big circular screw off lid that I drilled out the middle for my water line. Drop a pump down inside and screw the lid back on. keeps dust and bugs out. It holds about 13 Gallons or so. But it has a 14" square footprint. I paid under $40 for mine about a year ago.

You can use pretty much anything for an ATO, lol. I would recommend it to have a lid though.

You can make an easy DIY one out of a food-safe container, with a lid. Just cut a hole in the lid and thread your tube through there. Then you’re good to go!

It’ll save you money and it is as effective. But the choice is yours. :)

Have the 10 gallons Bashsea. Pretty happy with it. Did drill out one of the tubing holes (doesn’t look like the 5 gallon has them) to install a float valve. Only thing I don’t like is that the Bashsea label on the lid doesn’t line up with the handle not a big deal, but just looks sloppy to me. I’d give Bashsea an 8/10 on the ATO ad a 7/10 on the sump.

The containers do match their stumps very nicely.

Here is where I drilled out the tubing hole. May do the other side to install a bulkhead.

These sump shots make me wonder if you even reef if it's that clean. lol. Just kidding. Gorgeous setup!

I bought the below for myself from amazon, its 3" wide, it fits perfectly in the 3.5" space behind my stand. It might be a bit small for your needs though

There’s no tank on the stand; setting up sumps is my hobby. :p

It is a new setup, and the pictures were from when I was setting it up. Been away from the hobby for a while and having done this before, I wanted to correct a few things. It’s setup to be left unattended for long periods of time.

Hey, they finally got back to me today so I picked up a 5g ATO. I can black it out with vinyl if I really want to. Saved me around $45, thanks!

ehh i dont belieive in paying over 100$ for something that just holds water with line markers and 2 drill outs... you can get cheaper alt's that does the job the same with mesurements on them as well..
