Not sure if this is the right place to post but, I’m a college student and I go on break at the end of this week and while I ordered an ato unit it hasn’t yet arrived. While I could pick one up from my lfs they tend to stock more high end equipment and being a college student I’m usually a bit low on funds so I was wondering if anyone had some simple low cost ato designs that could hold my 20 gallon over for 10 days till I get back from home the tank is young and as of now is only home to fish and a few tester frags.

Coming a little late to the game I must say.
Even if it got in on time you still want to monitor it for a week to make sure it is working correctly.
Where did you this ordered from?

I know but I kept hoping it would show I actually bought it from chewy but I’ve used them before and have had a generally smooth experience but not this time unfortunately.

You have a sump?

Not really I’ve got the back divider so I’ve got somewhere for equipment but no actual sump. I do have space above the tank in a cabinet so I was considering a gravity fed system With a float valve

Ok.
You could get a aqua lifter for the time being on a timer.
Figure out how much you tank loses during the day and have this in a 5 gallon bucket on a timer maybe 4 times a day.

They do ship overnight or google if one of your LFS have them.
Or maybe a local reef club in your area that you borrow one or buy it.

Alright thanks I actually picked one of them up for use with my ato controller already. I was a little worried though that running it like that may cause damage to the pump itself.

They work perfectly fine without controller.
A timer is your best bet as we speak and you can get a multi timer for about $10 at the big box stores.
If you play with it tomorrow you can get it pinned down and monitor it for a few days before you leave.

If you have an electronics store nearby you may be able to source the parts locally, or could try amazon prime.
