Setting up a 20gallon long quarantine tank and i was wondering if anyone uses an ATO for theirs? Separate from Display or Common? Thoughts?

If people suggest using ATO for QT, what brands?

Sure...I see water level is down, I add water. :)

It's not a bad idea, but for me the expense didn't seem worth it. However, it would keep parameters much more stable.

I would use something where it's easy to clean and keep mounting panels/float switches out of the tank if I have to dose medicines. Maybe something like the autoaqua systems.

I appreciate the responses from anyone, consensus seems to be nice but not needed. Do folks think the Tunze nano is overkill for this?

I use a spectrapure one had from a previous display for my QT but I also own a cheap one from autotopoff.com that I use for various purposes. The autotopoff.com on are very inexpensive and work great.

I use this on my qt. Very happy with it.

Thanks, i did more research on the Tunze Nano and it has horrendous reviews on BRS and Amazon lately.

Put a lid on the qt and evaporation will be reduced significantly. A simple gravity water bottle ato would last you weeks. They are $15 on Amazon. I would not waste money on an expensive ATO for a qt.

Thanks, i currently just have an egg crate lid that fits flush on the rim of the tank. Thinking that an expensive proper ATO probably not worth it for QT. I'll setup and check the evaporation rate.

I use glass hoods on QT which significantly reduce evap, to the point where I use the evap as a way to increase salinity very slowly. Have to watch out for med concentration increase however.

I added water manually every day or two. I just made that part of the QT process

I use this system on my frag tank and it works great. Would be good for a QT I'm sure, just make sure to sterilize the float and bracket between uses.

I made my own using a float valve kit and a plastic container - I used a Soy Sauce container I had as it was a convenient shape.
