My aqualifter pump that I have been using for about 3-4 years has started becoming unreliable. Did a teardown a week ago and cleaned off the rust on the magnets and then ran vinegar through the pump for about an hour to clean the internals. Seems about every other day or so it stops pumping and I have to blow through the inlet line and shake the pump to get it going again.

Read online in a few places that the diaphragms could be replaced and that they are really cheap. But seems that no one stocks them anymore. Google search led me to 1 website that wants $20 for it. Then on top of that a replacement pump is $60 dollars at BRS now. Anyone know why there are no parts available and the price is crazy high? Any other suggestions for alternatives? I am dosing Kalk in my ato.

Yeah I saw this on BRS too. I posted a question why the price doubled and got no response. Watching to see what others have to say. I love this pump option but perhaps will have to switch in the future.

You can get those pumps a lot cheaper, I got the complete system with the add on filter unit and air line for $29 on eBay

Check now. I bought one on amazon 2 years ago for $20. Now eBay is $40, Amazon is $50 and BRS is $60. Craziness.

Even at $40 if your getting upwards of 4 years service that’s not a bad investment but agree I wouldn’t pay $60.

Has anybody figured out why this pump went sky high in the last year? I have had an overflow needing one of these for four years and i replace them every six months to keep my mind at ease. I always bought them for $18.95 at saltwateraquarium.com last time i got it eight months ago same price. I replaced it today and i went online to get my backup and was shocked! The price has gone bonkers! Did something happen? The cheapest i can find it now is Walmart at about $24. Any other similar pumps out there?

Something must have happened... Saltwateraquarium.com isn't even selling it anymore, which might be more reasonable to do rather than sell it $60 with no reasonable explanation...
