I was checking on my Tunze ATO pump that briefly stopped working yesterday and noticed a slimy feel when I picked it up. There's no visible sign of anything tainting the water. I can't even see it but if I touch it, I can definitely feel a slimy film on the pump.

Is this normal?

I'm using RO/DI water for the ATO and don't think that is the issue.

Any ideas?

Normal from my experience. It’s just a bacterial film. So long as your water tests 0 TDS, you’re fine.

May be time to rinse the pump and ATO out. Any light can create slimy algae which is clear before turning green

Definitely can’t hurt to clean it off. Personally, I’ve never had it turn green, though (little to no light hits my ATO or RODI brute).

Thanks. This makes me feel a little better. The ATO is inside the cabinet and rarely get any light. No coloration in the water when I checked. I'll add it to my equipment cleaning regiment.
