I recently moved my ATO reservoir from inside my stand to in my garage, just on the other side of the wall behind my tank. I was unsure if the aqua lifter pump I had been using for some time would work in this configuration. I tested it, and to my surprise, it did. The pump stayed in my stand and it sucked water from the garage (5-8 ft) and pumped it into my sump (6-8 inches). After probably a month or more, it stopped working. I flushed the lines and cleaned the pump and it still wouldn't pump. Connected a brand new aqua lifter pump and had same problem. In a pinch, I cut my line from my ATO reservoir and added the spare pump in-line in the garage. Each is connected to an eb8 outlet set to come on at the same time. Seems to work great.

I have several outlets free on my second eb8 in the garage, but I may need my relay outlets soon. Is there a good peristaltic pump that can be used for an ATO that draws enough current to be used on a triac outlet of the eb8?

What's the height difference between the reservoir and the sump? Those aqua lifters are only rated to 30".

Most pumps that run slowly for ATO use are going to be low power. Just look for something that draws over 5W and you should be fine.

It's probably about 30" or a bit more. What's crazy is that it worked fine for a month or more and just stopped. Nothing changed that I'm aware of. The double pumps seems to work great, but I'd like to free up my outlets for a couple other things in the near future.

How about the BRS 50ml/min peristaltic dosers? Will those work on triacs? That's what I'm leaning towards.

Over 30" will kill the pump. That's probably the problem.

I don't know that pump. You need something more than 5W to make sure the triac senses the current and shuts off.
