Hi guys. Setting up my first marine tank now, and getting all my equipment sorted. Figuring out my ATO (I have the AutoAqua smart micro ATO) and wondering if you place the ATO sensor underwater?

And should my sensor and the tube that adds water be in the same chamber/place?

I have an AIO (waterbox 25 mini peninsula) so you put the sensor in the return chamber, right? I.e the last place the water goes before it's pushed into the display.

Sorry for dumb questions, I got the ATO secondhand with no instruction booklet.

The tube that adds water doesn't necessarily have to be placed in the same chamber but many do.

Personally i don't like ATO's in nano tanks because they will often start filling for the wrong reason: for example, when your filterfloss/sock clogs up, the level in the return chamber drops more than it actually is.
Therefore I use a dosing pump to add rodi. Way more stable.

Smart idea with the dosing pump! If I invest in a dosing pump later in the year (when I add corals), I might switch to that. Oh well, I've bought the ATO now. May was well try it.

Thanks for replying. Great advice
