Hi everyone ,

After moving my tank and installing a sump , I’ve decided that an ATO is pretty necessary , does anyone have recommendations? Please see the picture of tank , it can either go in sump or HOB

I use Autoaqua Smart ATOs on all my tanks and they have been solid for me. They use an optical sensor for water level and have a timer if the pump runs for more than like 10 seconds they cut power to it.

I do like it, probly a little expensive for me I guess I should’ve added I don’t want to spend more than $100
Tunze 3152,
3155 has an optical sensor as primary to controlthe pump, float switch as safety.
3152 uses a float as the primary and time as the safety.
I have both.

I really like this , flooding is a big concern lol I don’t want the ATO to go crazy, and it’s not too expensive

You’ll get many different opinions. I read for months before purchasing the Avast. Never hurts to get recommendations though. Avast was the only ATO on the market that I couldn’t find a single negative review on. I’ve ran the Avast for 5 years straight. Never a single issue. There’s no optical sensors to clean, no float valves to get stuck. Not effected by water movement either. I’m sure the ones mentioned above would work well also.

I’ve used Coral Box A-100 about 80-100 bucks for 4 years.
It comes with an optical sensor and back up float sensor.
I added a $20.00 Amazon Multi-Timer which for me, turns the ATO on, only for 1 minute each hour as a third back-up.
