Hello fish and coral fanatics. Would like a little input on a thought I came up with. Anyone ever build an ato reservoir into a section of their sump? Say the last section. I'm in the planning stage of a new 180 and using my existing 125 as the sump in the cabinet under display. By doing this I wouldn't have any room for an ato reservoir. Thanks.

I don't see why not. Your sump should be plenty big enough. Personally, I would just run the baffle that separates the fresh water from the sump all the way to the top of the tank and cover it, if possible. Should work fine.

If I decide to use kalk you see any problems with it? Just trying to utilize my space wisely. LOL.

I have a 3 gallon ATO built into a 10 gallon sump. Works great. Like Fin suggested, I have mine ran to the top of the sump and made a cover. I don't see why dosing should be any different than the traditional way of dosing through ATO.

The only issue that I can think of that might be a nuisance with dosing kalk out of that set up, is that you will want to clean the reservoir out every now and then. You won't be able to carry a container to the sink or outside to a hose to wash it out. You would have to clean it where it is. Can be done, just would be easier with a removable container.
