I just installed an ATO on my all in one IM Nuvo 10, and I also purchased IM's top-off return bracket. the design of it has a siphon break, but it seems that no matter what tank you put this in the return line would be submerged. Is this okay given the design, or do I need to modify it? it seems against everything I've read, but I also can't think of a tank/sump where this wouldn't be submerged by default.

Appreciate any help you can provide!

I would run with tunze ato have them in ever tank I have even my fresh water tanks

Thanks Brycnz, but that's not my question. I'm asking about this return bracket in particular which is separate from any particular ATO unit

If it's siphoning water back:

Then,
Your going to need to test it, with it's hose above your water line.
Thanks GoVols. It’s a new tank, my first actually, and no water in it yet, but I will test it out. I guess I’m just making sure I shouldn’t inherently be worried about it being submerged as long as it has a siphon break

Here's one review:

"The universal return was easily adjusted and fitted to the return sump section of my JBJ Rimless Nano Cube 30. It ejects the water low enough so that there isn't noise or splashing, and it has a feature I didn't see in the literature when I purchased it - a small hole to act as a siphon break. That was a pleasant surprise since I was wondering if I would need to modify the tube to create one"

Your welcome

Looks like it has a hole to break the siphon, but you'd need to keep that hole from clogging.

It doesn't necessarily end up submerged. I use this bracket on my IM Lagoon 25.

As you can see it's not submerged. If it's too long, it's a simple matter to shorten the pipe so that it ends just above your water line. Just get a plastic pipe cutter from Home Depot or Lowe's

Provided you have a siphon break above water to allow air in to break it, it shouldn’t be an issue really, but ultimately you need to test it to make sure.

IMHO syphon break or not the ato feed line should never be below the water line, too much at risk, too easy to clog. Best to be on the safe side and cut it above the highest your water level can ever get.

In the long haul we're in total agreement.

I saw another user that ran flexible tubing and cut the tubing above his water line, while using the same mount.

Thanks for chiming in!!
