I think this might be normal for my ATO but I just want to verify. I just started my nitro cycle on my 75 G tank. The relative humidity in my house is low right now (43%, dry outside in OH). My ATO probes are in my sump and the lower sensor is about 1/2" from the top of my pump and the upper is about 1" above the lower sensor. I don't have a top on my tank at this time. My SG dropped from 1.026 to 1.025 since I started the system (1 week ago).

My ATO runs up to twice a day (roughly 1/2G per cycle). Does t his sound normal? And, are my sensors adjusted right...should I increase the distance from sump or between sensors?

Thanks again!!!

What ATO do you have?

First off, a gallon per day for a 75 gallons DT is reasonable.

Now as far as twice per day.....my ATO is old school, using a float switch. When the water level in the return section of my sump drops, the pump comes on and fills back up to where the float switch turns off the pump.....maybe adding a cup or two of water each time. Now I've never sat here and counted the number of times it comes on per day, but can only guess 20 to 30 times. So as far as your two times per day for approximately 1/2 gallon per run, I'd want less volume per run with more runs.

I lose about 1.5 gallons a day in a 80 gallon water volume. The ATO that I use cycles on and off through the day. I agree with @redfishbluefish that the ATO might want some looking into is the ATO on cycles on twice a day.

75 open top and I have to fill my 5 gallon reservoir every 3 days. Apex ATK

I have a Hydrofill.

I think I will take Redfishbluefish's advice and adjust so it runs more times per day w/ less volume. Other than that, it sounds like I am in the ball park.....Thanks to all!
