So my tank has only been running for 2 weeks, 75g display with 40g sump. I went on vacation last week with no problems, the ato worked perfectly. I have a camera in my tank room so I am getting ready for bed so I checked all is good like I do every night a noticed the audible alarm going off on the ato, I go down stairs to tank room and I got about a gallon more in the last chamber of the sump then I should. Good news is the audible warning worked great and the pump was off but noticed I had a steady drip coming from the ato hose to sump, is it possible to have to much top off water in your bucket to cause a siphon to make it drip steady and not stop when the ato pump goes off? My guess is that I caused the siphon from using a 32g brute can filled to high, thinking I will need something with a lower profile and wider base to keep the water level lower. I am in test phase with this ato so I can be good to go on next vacation that will have me away for 9 days.

Any thoughts on this, thanks Jim

If both ends of the tubing are not in water, you don't have a siphon. It's possible that if your pump is higher than the other end of the tube, that water could be traveling though the tubing via gravity.
My pump is lower than the hose in the sump and it is 2-3 inches higher then the water line. For some reason after pump kicks off it is keeping a steady drip.

It would seem you have a siphon based upon your line setup. Try rearranging things and reread Tunze instructions. Can you point me to your alarm and where you got it?
The Tunzi has a high water alarm built into it, when I pulled up my camera to check on things I could hear it going off.

Buy one of these and put it at the end of your line (in the right direction). It prevents a siphon from happening. I’ve had one on my Tunze for nearly 7 years without issue. It also prevents the water from draining back into the reservoir and allows air to enter the pump, which prevents the pump from working properly.

Have the tunze pump into your display rim and not the sump. The height of the display should keep any siphon from happening. If it is dripping, then you have a siphon going on.

so have it pump into my overflow in display? I didn’t think about that, I have it pumping into the last chamber with return pump.

The terminus of the hose needs to be higher than the highest water level your reservoir. I've used a piece of pipe to direct the water into the sump when pumping into the tank or overflow isn't an option.

I not got your ato but on my ato if I fill up my ato container next to tank ( 5 gallon drum) if I fill it up with rodi higher than level in last chamber of sump then it slowly drips out the tubing line even though tube not in sump water ,just how it goes,so I fill my 5 g container with 4- 4.5 g of rodi to stop it happenning.

As for running your ato to your dt instead of sump, would off course need sensor still in your sump ( as dt water level shouldn't change ) and just run the tubing upto your dt and find a way to fix tubing in place and make double sure a snail/ urchin can make loose otherwise going be putting water all over floor at side/ back of tank which isn't good.
Good luck

I add mine RODI to the tank so that it can mix up. If I add a lot, I do not want the salinity dropping in the sump and causing the skimmer to get larger bubbles and go nuts.
