Ato water change amounts

I have set my DOS up to do auto water changes. I am having a hard time deciding between 2 gallons a day and 3 gallons a day. The system is 120 mixed reef with a 20 gallon sump and oversized skimmer but I do not know the exact amount of water in the system. So basically 14 gallons a week or 21? I may adjust the amount of days it runs due to refilling and mixing time but the gallons per week will stay the same. Thanks.

Use a calculator for figure out your water volume link I was doing a 10% and bumped the water change up to 15% and the system has been doing and looking much better. If you are looking for a number the 21 would be the number I would suggest.

i have a 100g dt and ~31g sump, i do 2 gallons a night with my DOS and i figure its about 15% of my water volume by weeks end with the thought that i have about 100g of water or less in my whole system

now that i’m doing awc i have it set to replenish more volume than when i was just manually changing once a week. i use a spectrapure liter meter since it’s the best unit out there.
