ATO with DC return pump

I am using the Neptune Cor 20 return pump and I would like to ramp down the flow rate at certain times of the day with an apex but if I do the water level will change in my sump and the tunze ato will alarm.
Is there a way to do this with out the alarm going off.
Is there a better ato I can be using?

Remove the float switch from the tunze mount and remote mount it slightly higher in the sump.
