looking for an ato that has a fail safe timer where it will stop pumping after a set amount of time.

So far, I know of:
1) Jbj ato: Adjustable 3.75min-14min (can choose your own pump)
2) Tunze 3155: 10min (but can reduce the voltage/flow of the pump to around 1-3gal in 10min)
3) Tunze 3152 nano: 1.4min-2.45min
4) Hydor smart level: 10min

interesting, but need one I can purchase in the usa ;)
The reefloat has 5, 10, 20 or 60 seconds; which is pretty great and a lot more typical of actual top-off times than 10minutes.

yep 10mins is crazy, even the nano Tunze ato is far too high, I’ve stopped using mine.

If you have any interest in a controller, Hydros will allow you to set a timer and frequency. You can adjust time to the second. Also you can set multiple sensors. I’ve got two in the sump, a leak detector and one in the reservoir to prevent the pump from running dry. The one in the reservoir also triggers the RO to refill.

easiest thing is to have a 120v 24hour timer, and set to turn on an hour a day. Mine is hooked to my booster pump which besides the mechanical float, it also has a pressure switch that turns off the water main solenoid. 100% error proof.

I have a dedicated 10g water storage pale with the float. next to my sump. I use an aqualifter on top of that for my ATO. So in a 300g total volume system 10g max cannot cause any major parameter shift of error should happen. Most people will be fin with 5g storage container. If I was smarter I would have it run after 11pm at night, but dont like the idea of having major jump in ph since my ATO is part of my kalk reactor
