ATO with hob equipment?

I was wondering if anyone is using an ato with hob equipment? I have a 40 gallon Breeder with AquaMaxx skimmer 1.5 and also aqua clear 110. LFS said no because too much surface agitation?

It can be done but might be a little finicky. I would just set it up a little lower than you want the water level since it might kick on a few extra times because of the surface agitation. Or better yet if you could make a box to protect the probe from surface agitation that would be perfect

check out the jbj nano ato. It’s pretty cheap, has dual sensors and has a three second delay so surface agitation doesn’t trigger it.

Another option is place the sensor under the hob by the intake tube.
