I am looking to switch from dosing 2 part to kalk in my top off water soon. I have a 2
40b with a 20L sump and a Tunze nano osmolator. Seems like the nano osmolator pumps pretty fast would this be too fast for kalk addition. My mixture per gallon will be on the lower end more than likely. Only a few SPS and LPS in the tank right now.

Also plan on using it in conjunction with my apex to monitor ph to shut the osmolator down if the ph swings too much.

Why the switch? Are you sure that the kalk alone will be enough to handle the consumption demand?

Upgraded the nano and got rid of most of my SPS, looking to keep it simpler with this tank. Acans, zoas, euphyllia and shrooms. If it doesn't keep up I'll set the dosing pumps back up.

In my experience no , I don't believe that the speed at which your tank tops off is a factor being its a small amount. saying a half a cup in 2minutes vs. 5 seconds will not have an effect on ph. now if you were toping off a gallon in a nano all at once , then yes it would have an impact.

I just switch to the balling method a couple of months ago and life has been easy.

The ATO route is fine. I use the bigger Tunze 3155 which pumps through an Aquamedic Kalk mixer into sump and the flow rate is fine. If anything its a slow trickle. I forget the max pump time on the Tunze (think 10m) but even a full run its not enough to really affect tank PH.

Some people put a ball valve to reduce the flow speed. Plus inside the controller is a dial to reduce pump speed.

Fwiw i use avast marine ato with a peristatic pump.
