When you go on vacation, how do you battle the evaporated water when you are gone? I have a ATO but the bucket is only a gallon. A 10 gallon is $200 and I don't know if 10 gallons is enough for 9 days. any ideas?

I would just pick up a larger container (you can use anything as a container....a large dog food container or brute garbage can is fine) or have somebody stop by to fill up your current container. Not sure why you need a $200 container?

its custom made so its fits in the cabinet - I don't need this for vacation. will a 20 gallon brute work for 9 days you think

Yes. I used one recently and after five days it was still over half full. And I'm in Arizona where the evaporation rate is about as high as it gets due to low humidity.

ok sounds like this will work TY. Do you keep it covered?

Yes - covered (but not snug because it would pinch the tube.). I use mine with the Tunze ATO (3155) and covered it lasts me approximately 12 days; filled to the very top would be more like 14 days.

It also depends on the surface area and sump - I have a Reefer 350 (73 gal + approx. 16 gal sump) so more or less surface area, or higher/lower humidity in your home, will all make a difference (as will a lid on your tank or not.)

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
