Just set up an ATS on my 150 sps system(4 months). SPS growth has been great and color a 6-7out of 10. My ATS algae struggled to fill in. Flow, lighting and spectrum of the ATS are on point, but im thinking due to my gfo use the algae has been crawling for growth. I feed heavy but my nitrates are at 2ppm and po4 zero.

My plan was to ditch GFO once the ATS was established and on cruise control so sps colors could benefit from low po4.

Question is, do you guys running ATS run any GFO?

If your PO4 is zero, I’d take the gfo offline and then just let the ATS pick up the slack. The gfo may be limiting the ATS from really taking off if Phosphates are bottomed out.

GFO can definitely impact. Also if your nutrients levels are low, that will impact as well. Pics ?
Here are some pics. I am thinking about taking my gfo reactor offline this coming weekend. The growth on the ATS has been getting better, with finally thicker, green algae.
