This is my first post on reef2reef. It's under bad circumstances! I have been keeping reef tanks for 15 years. A couple if 6 month breaks in the mix. (Kids and work always get in the way) I currently have a 60 cube heavily stocked. I rely on a homemade ats scrubber for filtration. I have a coralife ss65 skimmer that aerates more then skims. The tank is a year and a half old. I just cleaned the screen yesterday afternoon and put the screen back in place. I forgot to open the valve and the screen sat dry for 24 hours. This includes a 10 hour photo period. I have a filter sick in and water flowing now. I'm worried I cooked the scrubber and now have no nutrient export. I am putting a fish through ttm so water changes are up. What should I do for nutrient export while the scrubber matures again. Should I finally upgrade the skimmer and throw some gfo in a reactor for the time being? Will that Rob the scrubber of nutrients? Should I just keep up with frequent water changes until the scrubber matures?

Don't sweat it at all imo.

Yea maybe a water change but I really wouldn't worry at all. You probably have a full screen again in a week or two.

And welcome to reef2reef!

The only problem I could see is that my screen is smooth from the year of cleaning it. Luckily I have another transfer to do then I have to fill the 20 gallon qt. All said and done. I will be changing 50% over then next week and a half so I guess I will be ok. Thanks for the welcome. I'm excited to be a member here.

Dont worry itll come back in a few days, its already seeded anway

What they said^^^

I've been thinking about what he said, what I said, and what they said and feel it's vital to repeat and emphasize what he said and what they said. Him, they, and I are in total agreement [emoji4]

Well I hope what he, they, and you are right. Either way, the scrubber crash is a good excuse to upgrade the skimmer. Thanks Fin. It was my first acrylic build. I learned a lot with that little scrubber. I'm planning on building a bigger one for a new build. It was/is the best filter I have ever used and it only cost me about $40 to build.
