Hi everyone so I have been running my ATS for about 3 months and am still learning more about them. Yesterday I cleaned one side of the screen under warm tap water and let the algae sit out for about an hour bc I was cleaning my sump. Today my algae I left on is turning white and I'm guessing it's bc I left it our for to long, also Idk if I should scrape all the left over algae that's white but then my screens will be bald. What shall I do guys?

I would clean it completely if your thinking it has died back. This way nutrients wont leach back into the tank. It wont take long for it to grow back.
I usually scrape both sides and the little thats left takes off pretty quick.

That's what I was worried about the leaching. Also is this just me but when I scape most of it off my nitrates go from 5 to 40ppm takes about a full week to grow back and be at a stable 5.

I can’t really speak to the nitrate issue. Just make sure your testing at same time of day. Not after feeding or cleaning the glass/surfaces.

Thank you I just removed all the algae . I appreciate the feed back.

I rinse mine in tap water after scrapping and put it immediately back in the tank and turn it on to rinse the fresh off. I wouldn't leave it out next time.

I see I will do that next time , I was thinking that could of been the problem.
