ATS VS Macroalgae Reactor/Refugium

What would you say is better: ATS or Macroalgae Reactor/Refugium? What are the pros and cons of each? Which would you prefer on your tank and why? Asking for a friend...

I went with a fuge instead of algae reactor mainly because I wanted to sustain the pod population in my tank with the goal of getting a mandarin in the future
