Hello all.
First, I hope this is in the right forum.

Second. I have some new and starter corals I’ve just added within the past couple of weeks. I’m having some difficulty keeping one or two secure and in their spots. I don’t have fish in the DT currently, but am worried once they are back in it’ll be chaos and everything will get knocked over.

What do you use to keep them on the rocks and secure? I’ve seen super glue and epoxys...mixed reviews and none of seems clear what is best or preferred!

Thanks for the help.

Most use a sandwich of glue and epoxy put super glue on the coral frag plug then epoxy then super glue that to rock the epoxy acts like a filler to mould to the the rock and super helps bond.
You can just use epoxy but it doesn't stick quiete aswell on its own
Also when using super glue use a gel one I use gorilla gel and coral crete epoxy and when using in water if it's a plastic bottle don't let it suck water in when you have squeezed it or your glue will be ruined.

I’ve been using the Aquaforest 2 part epoxy with good success although I don’t have any fish my bulldozer of a not so dwarf blue legged hermit crab can’t seem to knock anything over once it has set. It can be a bit if a pain to get it to stick but once it cures it holds pretty solid.

As others have said, Superglue - Epoxy - Superglue is the best way. I've used tons of different glues and epoxies over the years... as long as it's a gel-based glue, just about anything will work. For epoxies, there are a wide gap in quality between the different brands. Don't ever use Seachem Coralcrete, it's the worst of the worst. Mixes poorly, remains soft, and makes your skimmer go crazy. Two Little Fishies and Aquaforest are pretty good, and the Fluval epoxy will work if you can't get anything else. You can usually find the Fluval at Petco, but the others you'll either have to buy at your LFS or online.

You don't even need a sandwich. I just apply superglue to the coral or the frag plug and quickly place it in position underwater. I usually remove the frag plug to make it easier.

Apply superglue gel (we get 2 tubes for $1 at the dollar store) let it set for a moment then attach, pull apart, attach and swirl til the glue is on both surfaces. We glue our coral onto lemon sized rocks and then place the rock into the tank. This way we can move it or take it out without a major disturbance.
Cheers! Mark
