Attaching Fiji leather to rock

Hi all,hope everyone is well,
I have this nice 3" piece of yellow Fiji leather that's growing nicely in my tank. Today I noticed 2 aptasia on the rock it came on.I applied the kalk paste method and I'm pretty sure I got the pests,however I would like to cut the coral from the rock and reattach it to another piece of rock,I've tried do this before with other coral but was never successful,I used a rubber band but it just cut through the coral an I ended up losing the piece,please advise as to the proper method,thanks.

Sewing needle, heavy thread, and give it a few wraps. Never let me down. Don't over tighten or cinch down too tight, just snug enough to keep it in place. Once attached, you can just slide the thread out after cutting in about a month or so. Just cut the thread very close/flush to the body so that you are not dragging anything that might have grown on the thread through the body. I would also suggest coralmedi or similar dipping after both sewing and removal of thread. Keep us posted.

I've had my best luck with leathers just wedging them between two rocks. It only takes a couple weeks and they are attached. I've read people have good success other ways as stated and I'm sure they have much more experience with them than I do. I only tried the fishing line sewing needle once and the leather tore away. I tried it twice with the same coral and I think that stressed it out too much and it died. I've done the wedge method three times since and it's worked great, very easy and low stress on the coral.

The easiest way to get a leather attached to your Rock is to use a loosely fitting rubber band to hold the leather to the rock... The rubber band can be removed after about a month... Good luck @rtague with your leather I love those yellow Fiji leathers please show us some pic's ;Snaphappy

Thanks for the help,like you,I 've tried the thread method and the rubber band approach and both times the coral split and eventually died,think I'll give the wedging between rocks a try,don't want to loose this piece.
